I have some news for you: This burger contains no meat. It also contain 40g of protein and only 20g of fat. Sounds improbable… or that it’s made by a certain company, huh? Well, no. You can make this in your kitchen and it’s pretty darn simple. Check out the video and full recipe below!
Equipment
- Oven or air fryer
Ingredients
Plant-based Mayonnaise
- 2.5 tbsp (40g) Tofu, extra firm
- 1 tsp Mustard Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1-2 tsp White Wine Vinegar
- Pinch Salt
“Chicken” Patty
- 2 oz (56g) Chickpeas, Drained
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 1/4 tbsp (19.5g) Almond Butter
- 1/3 cup Water
- 0.4 cup 38g Textured Vegetable Protein
- 1 tbsp (7.5g) Nutritional Yeast
- 15 g (about 2 tbsp) Vital Wheat Gluten
- 1 tbsp Veg Stock Powder
- 1 tsp Mustard Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Ground
Instructions
Make "Chicken" Patty
- Blitz chickpeas, soy sauce, almond butter and water in food processor until smooth.
- Place dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and add wet ingredients. Stir to combine and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Make Mayonnaise
- Add all ingredients to food processor and blend, scraping down sides until smooth.
Assemble
- Create giant patty or divide into two, if preferred. Place in 350F/180C oven or air fryer for 20-25 minutes, until crispy.
- Add burger bun in the last two minutes, remove and slather top bun with mayonnaise. Add patty to bottom burger bun, top with lettuce and the top bun. Enjoy!
